Sean Pyerz is sort of like Superman, a man with two Identities. By day he is a mild mannered student and clerk, by night a kick ass DJ and producer. Instead of being able to fly and stop bullets, he has the even more amazing ability to turn out house tracks with a slightly tropical feel. Its only a slight tinge, like a slice of orange in your rum and coke, but damn it tastes so good.
No, these aren’t your modern deep soothing lounge tracks. These are the sort of tropical bangers that get your feet moving on the floor. I would describe his current style as a slightly lighter move on the old disco house, but with an influence from todays bangers. His tracks definately aren't meant to placate you while you talk to trendy twenty somethings, while sipping overpriced drinks under a fake palm tree.
Anyway however you describe Sean Pyerz, his music is pretty awesome. It must be something in the water down there. Check out his myspace page here, because this kid has talent and a half so you will want to get a chance to see him drop the wax when he drops by your area.

Animated Lily Allen! Yowza!
This music video is off the hook awesome! OFF THE HOOK AWESOME! A smoking hot animated Lily Allen and international Playboy/DJ Mark Ronson. It’s really, really cool.
I wish I could be an international jet set bad boy DJ like Mark Ronson. Also, I heard about a recent concert that Lily Allen gave, seems the girl is a bad ass Skastress.
Did I mention that this song is off the hook. Chris Lake has a remix floating around that I also find quite smashing.

The Teddy Bears Stockholm
The Teddy Bears Stockholm have this incredible song, you've probably heard there song Cobra Style. The song below is the new track. It has a great 1998 feel to it. I guess that could be an insult but it just sounds like a lot of the pop music coming out at that time, but it’s got a ton of pretty explicit drug references. It’s a pretty cool video.
Also check out the videos for Cobra style. There were two cuts for this the first. Well its kicks ass. Its the directors cut. It got explicit content, but hey it’s all good. I first saw it on this really cool music video podcast called wave form which you can get by poking around on I-Tunes.

Matt Soda - Bringing House back!

I met Matt Soda on the Rootz Records message boards. The kid was putting out great stuff then and he's just kept getting better.
One of the things I love about Matt's music is that it has a great old school feel. Keep in mind, though that for me old school is the stuff coming out around the turn of the century, we aren't talking 80's retro or Second Summer of Love here. Matt manages to create his blast from the past sound, while maintaining a fresh, inovative feel in his music, which is an amazing feature in an artist.
Matt's recently been doing some remix work for some boys out of Chi town including Sean Biddle. Matt has tracks out on Immense, Control Recordings, Bid Muzik, Prompt Digital, Direct Drive Digital , and he has a remix of a Sean Biddle Track coming out as a the kick off track for a newly revamped Noctournal records. Take a peak at beatport to see what he has going on.
Matt's graciously let me share some of his music with you. It has some good old fashion funk to it, plus a little of that distortion the kiddies wet themselves over now days, and its all wrapped up in a classy package. So check out his Sky High Remix of Top of the world.

Just Chillin'

I first heard Modjo’s Chillin’ when I was listening to a generic “club mix” CD that I got when I first started getting into electronic music. I actually used it on the demo CD that I made for when I first started my show. I ran into a remix of Chillin’ when browsing my normal assortment of music blogs. It was posted on this great little site Risky Bizniz, which I think is based out of Sweden. They always have a good track or two posted.
The Buffalo Bunch’s remix is pretty bumpin’. The main theme is there, but the base line has been tweaked, as has the song structure. The Bunch uses effects extremely effectively in the song. The phase and phalange is subtly applied at just the right points. The shift in the soundscape as a result is both barely noticeable, and yet has a deep impact on the feel of the song. This is one of the better remixes I have heard of late. It combines both a new take on an older song, and avoids what many remixers do now days. Current remixers seem content to turn songs into a new distorted electro track with a few samples from teh orgional cut. Instead of making it sound like something off the latest Madonna album, this stays true to the sound. As a result the quality of the track is superb, and it’s a unique find in today’s electronic music climate. Also the track seems to be recorded in at a high compression rate, so I am pretty sure it is ready to be dropped in the club!
