The Streets!

I <3 Youtube. I went on there to find Blinded by the Lights and post of that music video. It’s my favorite of A Grand Don't Come for Free. A Grand is the Streets best album and after watching this music video, and listening to the last Streets album I wonder if the Streets can ever make an album as good as that one.

Its not that the streets aren't talented its just that as this music video shows, Mike Skinner's lenses is most brilliant when turned in word. As the last album shows right now that light is shined on an awkward celebrity, someone who's blown up when they weren't quite ready for it. Skinners talent is still there, but it's not focused on things that are marketable or even pleasant to listen to. This video is pretty cool. The rhymes over the beats work well. The singing not so much, but who cares. Where the video above falters is in subject mater, it's not the whit of the first album, or the intense narrative and introspection of A Grand.

Either way the video above does provide an interesting light on the creative process of Mike Skinner, where he is now, and where he has the potential to be. As such it's worth watching.
